I’ll admit it—I can be a bit of a stick in the mud when it comes to trying new ideas. Don’t get me wrong, I love innovation and fresh perspectives… but you’ve got to earn my buy-in. And Samantha did just that.
I truly enjoyed our time together and think she represents exactly the kind of thoughtful, forward momentum we need in this industry—those 1% changes that, over time, make a BIG difference.

In this episode, we sit down with Amy Faison and Kristen Schuitema—professional riders for Pastured Place, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to thoroughbred aftercare. These two women are the embodiment of hard work and heart, making it no small feat to steal even an hour of their time.
Though a technical glitch -meant my mic wasn’t working (huge apologies!), I couldn’t bring myself to scrap this recording. What Amy and Kristen share here is too powerful to lose—raw, real, and incredibly inspiring. From life in the saddle to the deeper mission of giving retired racehorses a second chance, this conversation is gold.
